Raising new opportunities for remote and flexible working for UAE talents

Abu Dhabi, UAE, July 14th, 2021: As part of efforts to focus on community resilience through innovative initiatives and programs, Emirates Foundation today organized a virtual webinar under the title, “Ground-breaking steps towards Emiratisation through flexible jobs” that falls under the auspices of the DAWAMEE “The Job Inside” webinars to highlight how the “new normal” in working structure is increasing the demand for remote, working from home and flexible candidates, bringing about a huge range of opportunities for companies to enroll more Emiratis.

The Emirates Foundation is actively involved in a number of dynamic projects put in place as part of its mandate to achieve the goal of promoting social responsibility and boosting sustainable community development through collaboration with the public and private sectors.

Today’s webinar was hosted by Emirates Foundation in collaboration with EFS, a regional leader in delivering integrated facilities management services across the Middle East, Africa and South Asia with headquarters in the UAE.

Speaking on the occasion, Mohanna Al Muhairi, COO of Emirates Foundation, said: “In order to maximize the benefits to both employers and employees, we created the DAWAMEE online platform, one of our key flagship programs established with just one purpose: to empower UAE Nationals across the nation by providing them with access to flexible and part time job opportunities that match their skills in as many diverse fields and sectors in the UAE as possible.”

Al Muhairi added: “But this is not just about Emiratisation; it is also a societal-driven project that actively seeks to create job opportunities with the most flexible terms in order to bring benefit to all involved – whether an employer, an employee, or the community in which they live and work.”

The DAWAMEE platform targets UAE nationals over 18, and priority is given to groups who face distinct employment challenges, such as people of determination, low-income individuals and those living in remote locations across the UAE.

Tariq Chauhan, CEO of EFS Facilities Services Group, commented: “One important thing companies should consider is the need for the private sector to pursue Emiratisation from a resilience perspective; for example, during the pandemic with the lack of international flights, lockdowns, unavailability of visas and other drawbacks, the best option was to turn to UAE nationals, bring them on board and leverage on their talent . I believe that DAWAMEE is a genuine enabler in this, as it has provided a unique opportunity for EFS to bring many professionals on board, even during the pandemic.”

Mohanna Al Muhairi added, “DAWAMEE has provided a number of suitable candidates with flexible work opportunities, including remote working and part-time employment, which not only brings cost effective solutions for companies and corporations, but provides job-seekers with gainful employment, an improved quality of life, and a sense of purpose that they are contributing to society as a whole. I am looking forward to reinforcing our relationship with national partners like EFS as it is ground-breaking partnerships such as these that enable Emirates Foundation and DAWAMEE to broadly expand the range of job prospects available across the UAE and provide meaningful employment with long-term job security, giving us the satisfaction of working together for the benefit of others.”

The DAWAMEE platform is an ideal way to integrate UAE nationals into the private sector as a crucial step towards building their own resilience and sustainability. Giving Emiratis experience in a mix of private and public sector jobs creates interesting opportunities for future leaders to grow and develop. Emirates Foundation is making great inroads in this context with Tawteen, the Abshar programme and now Dawamee. Designed by leaders, managers and those who developed the programme, the platform has already enabled EFS to employ 15 recruits and the company is about to take another 13 onboard. Out of those, 5-7 recruits have already moved to full time.

The webinar was hailed as a great success by the organizers, participants, and the Emiratis who have joined the private sector workforce through the platform.
